trooperThe common practice of impersonation and the posting of misinformation has now become so common on the internet that it is now being brought up in press conferences concerning  high profile stories such as the Sandy Hook shooting.

It is been revealed during the press conference that there are social media sites impersonating the shooter and also putting content up of a threatening nature.

Law enforcement officials have stated that the violators will be prosecuted under state and federal laws.

The ability of social media to be an alternative to the mainstream media has been dealt a damaging blog due to the actions of those who are abusing this case for their own reasons.

As people continue to abuse blogs, twitter accounts, Facebook accounts, etc. the public will turn away from these sites and not take them seriously and instead, rely more on the mainstream media to obtain accurate information.
