I may have some disagreements with Mr Ortega, but I do see common sense when I see it and I am also willing to acknowledge when he is right.
I wrote a while back about my concerns with anonymous being involved in the Steubenville situation. I offered my opinion that vigilante justice is not the way to go. It is better to let the system work and not to take matters into ones own hands.
If people want to discuss the problems within the community and the problem with how athletes at either the high school or college are pampered and protected when something like this comes up, they are free to do so as long as they respect the rights of the innocents and employ civilized ethics in the process.
Rather than repeat Mr Ortega’s words, I will link his blog here for all to read.

There are times to set aside personal differences and side with common sense. This is one time I fully agree with Mr Ortega and with what he is trying to accomplish.
I wish him the best of luck and success with his mission.

I can only agree with part of what he says. Specifically, that section about their wild accusations regarding people who had no part in the rape. Joey left out the part about them now taking complaints from anyone with whatever butthurt accusation they come up with. I’m LOLing at the convicted felons whining about the “corrupt” law enforcement. No agenda there. Stealing a picture from some kid’s account that was over 500 days old and claiming it for their “press release” as a picture of the rape victim. No agenda there.
I’m convinced now that this mob is not a part of Anonymous. They are suppressing free speech all over Twitter. One guy who made unpopular comments was labeled a pedo. When you don’t have an valid argument you’re reduced to name calling.
Isn’t that what’s happening to Joey now? Yes, the mouthpieces are chasing him around making accusations and calling him names. Joey still hasn’t figured out that he’s now in the same boat with you Murt. Just like you, he is adamant he did nothing to deserve it. He can’t see the forest for the trees. He should consider himself lucky that he’s only been called a phony and a fame whore, because we know they are capable of much worse.
KYAnonymous, the almighty leader of this head hunt, is a part of anonymous. From what I read he has worked with them for a couple of years although his “work” lacked expertise.
Joey’s right, their vigilantism is dangerous and out of control. What Joey doesn’t realize though is that it’s his friend Alex that’s behind most of the wrong information being told about these boys. Alex, Holly and Michelle were the ones who begged Anons to become their personal army and KY wasn’t smart enough to see he was being played. These women are pure evil. Open your eyes Joey, Alex was never your friend. She used you just like she uses everyone. She talks a good game, but in the end it’s always the same. Alex claims innocence but she is far from it.
Run Joey Run.
You might go back and read the article and pay close attention. I made it clear that I have strong disagreements with Mr Ortega and his past actions. I do, however, give credit to him for trying to inject some common sense when it comes how people discuss the case and react to events surrounding it. If you cannot understand that, then perhaps you should visit a blog that more suits your point of view,
